PDF compressor
This compressor never uploads your file. It loads the PDF in the current tab, optionally recompresses embedded JPEG images with the canvas encoder, strips Info metadata, and saves with object streams.
It is not a print RIP or Adobe Distiller. Scanned pages stored as JBIG2 or CCITT, vector drawings, and files that are already linearized/optimized may shrink only a little — or grow a few kilobytes. Encrypted PDFs are rejected. Large files can freeze a phone browser.
How to Use
- Drop a PDF (unlocked). Nothing is sent to FlashKit.
- Set JPEG quality. Start around 70–80% for photo-heavy exports; use maximum if you only want a rewrite.
- Keep “strip metadata” on unless you need title/author fields.
- Download the new file and open it. If the size went up, the source was already tight — keep the original.
Key Features
- Client-side pdf-lib rewrite — no FlashKit upload
- Best-effort JPEG recompression with a quality slider
- Optional document Info metadata strip
- Clear limits: no password PDFs, no fake “90% smaller” claims
Frequently Asked Questions
Will every PDF get smaller?
No. Already-optimized or scan-heavy PDFs often barely move. The UI shows before/after bytes so you can keep the original if the new file is larger.
Are my pages uploaded?
No. Processing stays in this tab. Close the tab to drop the file from memory.
Do forms and signatures survive?
Not reliably. Digital signatures are typically invalidated by any rewrite. Rebuild forms in the source app if they matter.
Is this the same as “PDF compressor 10MB to 200KB” ads?
Those claims usually flatten pages to low-quality images. This tool prefers keeping text and only recompresses JPEGs. Flattening would destroy searchability — we do not pretend otherwise.
