Mute / remove audio from video
Muting re-records the video track only using the browser MediaRecorder API. FlashKit never receives the file. The download is WebM — that is a browser limitation, not a hidden watermark step.
Use it to strip music you do not have rights to before a screen recording, or to make a silent B-roll clip. Quality depends on the browser encoder. Safari and some mobile browsers are pickier than Chromium.
How to Use
- Choose an MP4, MOV, or WebM file your browser can already play.
- Wait for the preview to load, then start the mute process.
- Let the clip play through once so the recorder can capture every frame.
- Download the silent WebM. If you need MP4, convert it in a local encoder after download.
Key Features
- Video-only MediaRecorder capture — no FlashKit watermark
- Runs locally; we do not host your clip
- Works with common formats the browser can decode
- Useful before uploading to platforms that reject copyrighted audio
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the download WebM instead of MP4?
Browsers expose WebM (or a similar container) from MediaRecorder. Re-wrapping to MP4 would need a heavy encoder we do not ship in this page.
Will this remove a burned-in watermark?
No. It only drops the audio track. Pictures and on-screen logos stay.
Is the video uploaded?
No. Processing is in-tab. A long 4K file can overheat a laptop fan; prefer a shorter cut.
Can I keep a voice track and drop only music?
Not here. This tool is all-or-nothing mute. Use a desktop NLE for stem-level edits.
