FlashKit vs ILovePDF (2026)
ILovePDF (iLovePDF) shows up next to Smallpdf in almost every “free PDF tools” query. FlashKit is not trying to clone that catalogue. This comparison covers the jobs FlashKit actually ships in 2026 and the privacy difference that matters when the file is sensitive.
Overlap
Both can compress, merge, split, rotate, and turn Word-ish documents into PDF. ILovePDF’s versions typically run as a hosted conversion. FlashKit’s compressor, merge, split, rotate, and Word to PDF run in the current tab. FlashKit does not receive those files.
Split a PDF locally
Ranges or single pages. Combined file or ZIP. No ILovePDF-style upload to FlashKit.
Open Split PDFWhat ILovePDF still covers that FlashKit does not
- A much longer tool list (edit, OCR, e-sign, office conversions beyond a simple .docx layout).
- Accounts, stored files, and team workflows — if you want that model.
- Mobile apps and desktop helpers. FlashKit is a website.
We will not quote their 2026 pricing or daily free-task counts here; those change. If you need OCR or a signed workflow, use a product that states those features — not a browser rewriter.
Fidelity and limits on FlashKit
- Word to PDF: headings and paragraphs; not a Word clone. Details in the DOCX how-to.
- Compress: JPEG recompress, not a guaranteed 90% cut. Details in compress vs split.
- Encrypted PDFs are rejected. Unlock them locally first.
Same rule as the Smallpdf comparison: pick the local tab when the file should not leave the machine; pick a full suite when you need a feature FlashKit does not have. FlashKit’s non-PDF tools can still call the network — do not copy a “we never send data” line onto the homepage.
