Product price comparison
FlashKit’s product price comparison tool looks up the same item across official merchant APIs and affiliate product feeds. Type a name, paste a store URL (short links are expanded), or search from a photo. Each live offer shows the store, a hotlinked image, the price in that store’s currency, an “as of” time, and a Buy button that may be an affiliate link.
We do not scrape storefront HTML and we do not use Keepa, SerpApi, or Rainforest. If no API keys are configured, you get a search hero, popular category tiles, and an honest note that live catalogs are being connected — never fake products. Store deep-links sit in a compact “Search on stores directly” section. Image search uses eBay Browse search_by_image and/or Gemini vision when those keys are set; photos are not stored.
Amazon listings (Creators API, the supported successor to PA-API 5) are cached at most 24 hours, never stored as local images, and never plotted on a history chart. eBay Browse data is cached at most 6 hours. History charts exist only for opted-in feed networks (Admitad, Awin, CJ, Impact) when a database is connected.
How to Use
- Search a product name, paste a store link, or upload a photo. A compact region chip sets the store list.
- When catalogs are connected, product cards fill in as each official API answers. Open a card for the in-site offers table. Store deep-links stay in a compact section, not as the main page.
- Short links (amzn.in, fkrt.it, …) are expanded server-side. The product name from the URL slug is used as the cross-store query.
- Open a store row to visit the merchant. Links use rel="sponsored nofollow noopener" except plain-link stores such as Walmart.
Key Features
- Official APIs and feeds only — adapters light up when env keys are added
- Product cards, FlashKit Picks, and an in-site offers table when catalogs are live
- Optional image search via eBay search_by_image or Gemini; photos are not stored
- Amazon 24h cache + disclaimer; eBay 6h cache; history only for opted-in feeds
Frequently Asked Questions
Are these prices guaranteed at checkout?
No. Prices are snapshots from partner APIs or feeds with an “as of” timestamp. Checkout can differ because of stock, shipping, taxes, or a stale cache (Amazon at most 24 hours, eBay at most 6 hours).
Why do I see store rows instead of prices?
Live prices appear only when an official adapter is enabled for your region. Until then FlashKit shows search, category tiles, and a short “catalogs are being connected” note — never fake products. Optional store deep-links stay collapsed. We will not fabricate a price to fill the layout.
Do you show Amazon price history?
No. Amazon and eBay history is disabled in code. Charts are reserved for feed networks that explicitly opt in, and only when a database is configured.
Does FlashKit earn a commission?
Sometimes. Buy links may be affiliate URLs. The disclosure page states this; Amazon’s required Associates sentence appears only when the Amazon adapter is enabled.
Do you include Flipkart and Walmart?
Yes as official search links in the comparison list (India includes Flipkart, Myntra, and other major shops; the US includes Walmart). We do not have live Flipkart or Walmart catalog APIs, so those rows never show an invented price. Walmart links are never affiliate-wrapped.
How does image search work?
Your photo is resized in the browser and sent only to identify the product. If eBay keys are set we use the official Browse search_by_image API. If GEMINI_API_KEY is set we use Gemini vision on /api/price-compare/identify. Images are not stored. If neither is configured you type the name and keep the thumbnail.
Are search result URLs indexed?
No. Queries stay on the tool URL as ?q= and those result states are noindex. We do not generate a public page per product.
